Destination Bristol

Conference Bristol

In 1991 the Bristol Development Board was looking into how they could promote Bristol as a tourist destination especially to the corporate market.

I submitted a proposal outlining how a membership agency could be set up which lead to the start of Conference Bristol in 2002.  We started with 27 members, mainly hotels and over three years it grew into a highly successful destination bureau.

We provided full event management support to organisations that wanted to host their conferences and events in Bristol along with the provision of a free venue and accommodation booking service, maps, restaurant lists, attraction guides and transport services.  Conference Bristol was handed over to Bristol City Council in 2004.

Bristol’s Bright Future and the Future of Bristol events

Since 1998 I have created and produced a series of high profile one-day conference about the future of Bristol aimed at senior level business leaders.  The first conference took place in 1998 called ‘Harbourside’ about the Harbourside development. It attracted over 350 business leaders.

In 2000 ‘The Future of Bristol’ reviewed key developments and initiatives including transport set to have a major impact on the city and region. This event continued every 2 – 5 years as follows:

In 2002 ‘This is the Future of Bristol’

In 2007 ‘The Future of the Bristol Region & Beyond’

In 2011 and 2013 Bristol’s Bright Future became a three-hour event looking at some of the key sectors and projects contributing to the region’s success.
